Bad Thing
words & music by Fredric O. Knipe

If  we do a bad thing
We just know it, don't we?
We look away and our pants feel tight
And we need very badly
To be somewhere soon
Other than where we are

I don't mean when I drink
Milk straight from the carton
Or relieve myself out in the yard
I mean saying things
Like I think I love you
When what I mean is please lay down

How many bad deeds
Is a good man allowed
If the bad thing only happens
When the man needs something bad

I don't just mean driving
Seven miles on a flat tire
To get to what I want so bad
It's telling her then
I was drawn by beauty
And nothing else she mighta had

If human weakness
Is only natural
Doing just the best we can
Why does it make me
So uneasy
Being such a natural man

How many bad deeds
Is a good man allowed
When the bad thing only happens
If the man needs something bad
